Typically, as I’m writing this morning—after a momentary panic that the coffee machine had broken 😳, but we’re all good!—it’s gone a bit grey and cloudy here. But, no matter! British Summer, and, regardless of what shops and their sales rails are telling us, there are many weeks of sundress-wearing weather to come.
So, I’m pressing on with my Tuesday morning, strapless bra PSA, in hopes it’ll be handy—especially if, like me, you’re on the lookout for one that Just Works with certain dresses and tops, when it’s hot, you’d ideally like more than one to hand, but don’t want to spend a fortune.
This is a doublepack, at M&S (it comes in two colour ways: opaline/black, and black/white), which I grabbed last week in two sizes on a dash, when there was no time to think about it. I wasn’t massively hopeful, but it’s been FAB. Perfect under strapless maxi dresses and sundresses, Bardot tops et al.

Why I love it: it’s well cut (very similar to a much more expensive strapless bra I’ve been reaching for on repeat), and—genius design detail incoming–the underwire doesn’t go all the way up to the very top of the cup. Hence it doesn’t dig in under your arms, which is far from pleasant at any time, but especially when you’re running around on a hot day.
It gives decent support (for a strapless), and is subtly padded—just enough to give it structure and coverage. Also, so far, it hasn’t done that weird ridge-y thing at the top that some do, it’s washed well, and hasn’t gone bumpy in the cup, either.
Super-useful to have on standby—and, obviously, not just in summer.
Back later this week with a hot new lip balm launch (because, can you ever have too many? You know my answer to that. 🙅♀️)

I'm going to get my sister to bring me out a pack of these. I rarely need a strapless bra but they are undeniably more elegant than bra straps sometimes (I really don't care of people can see my bra-straps day to day, but if I want to be smart I'd rather avoid!). I think I'm still scarred by early iterations, which just never worked on anything above a B cup!
My elderly DD’s struggle with this bra. Great with the straps but can’t take the droopy load without them.
However, I have last years version of this one https://www.marksandspencer.com/seamless-non-wired-bandeau-bra/p/clp60545482?color=ROSEQUARTZ#intid=pid_pg1pip7g2r2c1.
It doesn’t fall down or cause back boob. I’m a 12-14 36DD & medium is the perfect fit
