Happy, happy Saturday!
New makeup tools from Victoria Beckham and Westman Atelier, spring pink trainers, celebrating SJP's 60th, and more.
Happy, sunny Saturday! How are you?
I hope you’ve had a good week. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday here in the UK, which caught me off-guard and a little teary a few times this week, as I know it will have for many—and for many different reasons. Walking past the card displays, heart on autopilot, I’ve found myself scanning for the one my mother would’ve loved. So this weekend’s edition comes with the biggest HUG and very much love to all those for whom tomorrow is hard, lovely or a mixture of both (same).
WELCOME to all new subscribers—I’m excited you’re here. Not signed up yet? Dive in and join us for spring!
It’s been a sunny few days here, and I've finally put the puffers away. Bring on the trenches—and maybe some fun, colourful sneakers? A couple of Easters back in Florence, I was really struck by how all the women (possible exaggeration) were doing bright or colour-blocked pastel trainers with their wrap-tied trenches. It really worked.
Ringing in at £59, so slightly less than your Gazelles and Spezials, these Adidas ones at M&S look very (I'm going to go ahead and say it) comfortable (I look for extra cushioning at the ankles, always have, because so many rub. New Balance and Nike tend to work out best for me, for this reason).

Still, these newbies are 😍.

Speaking of spring pinks, I've added to the sleep clinic set-up that is my bedside table (white noise machine, pillow mist, mini fan for midnight flushes).
I finally pushed the button and picked up a pot of the cult Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, now available in the UK and raved about recently by both and , in the posts I’ve linked below (sharing the Substack 💗!).
The berry flavour Laneige seems to be highly popular, but my inner eight year old went with the Hubba Bubba-coloured (and flavoured) Sweet Candy. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but I’ve definitely seen and felt a difference in the morning, when everything always feels super-parched. You don’t need much—just a smidge is enough to soften and moisturise post-winter (and, in my case, all year round) drier lips. It’s an interesting texture—it’s not immediately absorbed, exactly, but neither does it feel greasy.
Overnight use aside, this one could make a great treatment to use an hour or two before applying, say, a more matte red lipstick for a night out, if (like me) you find them too drying usually.
The Lineage mask is pricey—much more so than, say, Lanolips version (the MBE review of the 12 Hour Overnight Lip Mask is here). Scrutinising the ingredients, coconut oil is the first nourishing oil listed, which made me wonder if maybe scraping a little coconut oil into one of those mini travel pots, to have bedside, might be worth a shot, too, as a DIY night treatment? Just a thought!
