Happy Saturday! How are you?

Somehow, I managed to lose a week—I thought Palm Sunday was next weekend, not tomorrow, and that I had two weeks to organise myself before Easter (nope, yes, and never happens, anyway). I started out well—I got the traditional Italian Easter cake, the dove-shaped colomba, WEEKS ago (like panettone, but a lighter, more citrusy version with a crunchy almond top).

This year, Dolce & Gabbana has done a colomba cake in a limited edition tin, which I’ve managed to resist—but how pretty?

There’s a blue version, too.

I’m typing this with blue nails— I influenced myself this week, ha ha! It was fun to see Wednesday’s guide to spring nail trends resonated with MBE friends, and brought back memories of 90s pastels à la Hard Candy (you’re so right,

Cheryl Wischhover
! And she should know, having been deep-diving 90s beauty icons lately at Whatever Nevermind).

And shout out to

Melissa Harrison
for the addiiton of butter yellow, which definitely gets added to the list—I was just looking at this one in Anthropologie on Regent Street, the other day (by Palette London, I haven’t tried so can’t vouch for the formula yet, but I will!).

Yesterday, I had a quick video call with the wonderful Jane (British Beauty Blogger) of the freshly renamed (as of today!)

Kiss My Face
Substack of beauty awesomeness. I was transfixed by her nails, as she, too, had been inspired to dive into pale blue, and it looked SO GOOD (much more pro than my efforts).

CONGRATS to Jane!

On with the week’s beauty and style news, starting with the announcement that French actress and producer Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu–AKA Emily In Paris’ Sylvie—is the latest L’Oréal Paris ambassador in France.

“By audaciously celebrating age as a strength, Philippine breathes a surge of freedom, becoming a true source of inspiration for women around the world,” said Marie-Julie Monnot, general manager of L’Oréal Paris France, of the appointment.

When WWD broke the news, I immediately thought of fashion, beauty and wellness journalist

Jones Road newness!

Speaking of ageless beauty,

Bobbi Brown
unveiled the newest addition to the Jones Road range this week, Just Enough. A lightweight tinted moisturiser, it comes in a full range of shades and is designed to give sheer coverage and a hydration hit, without oiliness.

If you’ve been following the MBE for any length of time, you’ll know I’m obsessed with the JR Miracle Balms (I literally smother my face in Sunkissed every morning at the moment), and What The Foundation—I love the sheer, fresh finishes, and my skin loves the nourishing, oil-based formulas.

Bobbi created Just Enough to give “effortless, everyday coverage that just works,” and as a less emollient option, base-wise, to WTF. “It's simply your skin, but better,” says Bobbi. I’m trying it out right now— full MBE review to come!

The cherry on top!

In skin care news, Elemis held a London pop-up, The Elemis Café, in Notting Hill on Thursday and Friday.

The bakery-themed event was centred around the new Black Cherry version of its iconic Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, the #1 bestselling cleanser on this side of the pond (one pot is sold every 10 seconds).

The OG, favourite, melts-on-contact formula has been tweaked with a black cherry aroma, with sweet and cosy almond and vanilla notes, too.
