Hello, happy Wednesday!

Welcome to all those who’ve joined us since the weekend—I’m thrilled you’re here!

I was going to write about hair colour today—I’ve asked a top colourist to give us her top tips for glossy, graduated colour, as seen on French actress Camille Cotton here. That’s coming later this week, but there are a couple of midweek beauty news stories I couldn’t wait until The Weekend Edit to talk about.

While many of us are still riding the major nostalgia wave following the news that Donna Karan is bringing back the OG Cashmere Mist perfume (as I wrote about at the weekend), Space NK has announced it will cut the ribbon on a shiny new London flagship store this summer, in the OLD TOP SHOP BUILDING at Oxford Circus.

The landmark location is steeped in neon bangled, Gen X fashion history. In the late Eighties, my best friend Sarah and I would lose almost entire Saturdays in Top Shop (instead of revising for our O Levels), having synchronised our Walkmans on the District Line tube from Richmond into the West End.

The Oxford Circus store only shuttered in 2021, and, pre-lockdown, it was drawing 400,000 customers each week.

Billed as a “purpose-built beauty experience,” the new Space NK will take up one, 4,600 square feet on one floor of 214 Oxford Street, where IKEA currently hosts a pop-up concept store, Hus of Frakta (a new IKEA store is coming soon).

It’s fun to think that, in the same space that my friends and I would pour over displays of Barry M nail paints—and I took my own daughter, in her teens, all but tearing up on the escalator at the full circle-ness of it all—a new generation of beauty shoppers will be doing the same.

Sleep tighter
