NEW Jones Road The Hero Kit
The MBE reviews the just-dropped, limited edition set, filled with all you need for a glowing midlife look.
Hi, everyone! Happy Friday afternoon!
I’m just back from the hairdressers and have soaking wet hair. My (very kind) colourist squeezed me in at the last minute, and left me to my own devices after the backwash. I might do it more often, as I get super-fidgety, anyway, and I’m trying to cut back on the heat styling.
It then CHUCKED it down with rain on my journey home–but a microwave hottie and Earl Grey on IV have worked wonders.
How is your day going? Things are very much looking up here as a new *Jones Road limited edition—The Hero Kit—arrived while I was out, and I couldn’t wait until The Weekend Edit tomorrow to tell you about it (although there will be more spring makeup goodness in there, too. Including bronzers and some self-tanning action, because I couldn’t wait any longer and covered myself in one I’ve had on the backburner to review for spring. To be discussed in the morning!)

I-know-you-know I’m JR-obsessed, and I know that many MBE friends are, too, on both sides of the pond (plus, they’re now shipping to many countries in the EU). It’s got to the point where, if anyone so much as says “you look well!”, I reflexively nosedive into whatever bag I’m carrying, whip out my Jones Road Miracle Balm palette (I take one everywhere), and go into rapturous, full QVC mode. It happened yesterday, in fact—after getting my brows waxed (also long overdue! It’s been a Get. It. All. Done. day or two), and I even went as far as to demo the texture of the product on the back of my hand. Like I said, FULL QVC.
(And by the way, no disrespect to QVC presenters – on the contrary, I know a very dear one who reads this newsletter! I am in awe and secretly wish I was one. See, too, Blue Peter presenter, once upon a time.)
Back to the set, which—shocker!— I love. (And, full disclosure, while JR is now an MBE affiliate—I am so delighted to say—this hasn’t been the case for very long, and if you’ve been reading for a while, you’ll know I haven’t been able to stop talking about the products from day one. was one of our first guests at the newsletter, and recently came back to share her holiday beauty secrets).
Filled with 5 of “my favourite basics that I use consistently,” according to Bobbi, the collection comes in what looks like a (cooler than most) brown paper bag but is, in fact, deceptively strong and totally reusable—it’s the same recycled material they use for the limited edition makeup purses. It comes in two options: Pinky and Peachy.

I went Peachy, below, which has the poppy Miami Beach Miracle Balm, plus Golden Hour (both minis, so great for popping in your bag).

In the Pinky set, you get the Miracle Balms in Flushed and Magic Hour (below).

So, the blush shade is more of a cool, dusty pink and the difference between Golden and Magic Hour highlighters is subtle, but distinct: the former casts more of a golden, luminescent glow on the skin, whereas Magic (one of the first shades I bought), is more of a neutral, shimmer.
In both kits, you also get The Mascara (black) and The Best Pencil in Brown (both full sizes).
I know, it’s no revelation that brown eyeliner offers a softer option than black, but this has converted me back to eyeliner again. I haven’t worn it for ages, but the lovely thing about this formula is that it’s soft enough to be smudged, although not kajal-soft, so you can use it to create a precise line, or a kitten flick, should you fancy (I tried it both ways).
But I’m particularly excited about the inclusion of the Eye Cream (again, full size), which I’ve been meaning to go back to ever since the Jones Road consultant at the Liberty counter tipped me off about using it before applying undereye concealer (The Neutralizer Pencil). It’s a trick which I’ve used since, and mentioned in this edition on 3 of the best high street concealers). The texture of this one is SO lovely, light and fresh, and it leaves a slightly dewy finish.
The MBE verdict ? A gorgeous midlife look in a bag. If you’re a JR fan who needs a stock up, or want a way to try a few products across the range, have a look—I suspect these will fly.
See you tomorrow, for The Weekend Edit! Have a lovely rest of Friday! Please do hit the ❤️ button if you liked this post, and if you think it’s a good thing for QVC that I stick to the day job.

This is so great. Thanks for the love. Xx
As an oily gal I'm really wary of the JR balms. Am I wrong?
